Chuvash State University includes 15 faculties, subdivisions of additional education, a branch in the city of Alatyr. Forms of education: full-time, part-time, part-time. The university also provides an opportunity to receive postgraduate education: postgraduate studies, doctoral studies, residency, and additional higher education.

According to the results of the monitoring conducted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in 2012-2019, Chuvash State University named after I.N. Ulyanov has been recognized as an effective university for the seventh year in a row.

The university has passed professional public accreditation in 18 areas of training and specialties (53 educational programs of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Energy and Electrical Engineering).

ChuvGU entered the TOP-25 organizations according to the results of the Russian Humanitarian Foundation competitions for 2014: in terms of the number of applications submitted, ChuvGU took 7th place, in terms of the number of supported applications - 13th.
